Chinatown 03:01
What was your name? There are so few who'd choose to stay I had no clue I wanted you You wanted me to fall clear in love with you What could I do but feign defeat from winter's heat We were not friends As I did find your deep sea bends Cloud peace of mind I wanted you, you wanted me to stay here In Chinatown, to hear the sound Of rain that falls as morning calls The distant sea from my memory Your melted frame caused me to feel A point to insane, but you felt so real I wanted you, you wanted me to sleep here And in the morning as the sun comes up I've known that I could never push my luck I kiss you once and then I take my leave There are no words that we have left to speak

In Rose 03:23
Lover your eyes fleetingly rise As though lighting had swept through the skies So quick to lift, gaze played with fire Soon they fall into sombre flamed desire Lover hold me How I feel your radiant wonder at the height of my heart Fallen to dark, stifle the dawn Such a charm found in eyes southern drawn Seeing through blind ember eyelid glows A first love not in fallen, but in rose. Lover your breath, caught for a kiss Sharp and held for a moment

SamSara 03:26
People all surround you All your family and friends Straining from their earlobes They'll be witness till the end. Samsara as a phrase shows wandering ways From your Middle Eastern future days. For a sister and a friend, a new brother to commend A song just for two, a song that's written all for you. Seeing your eyes as they intertwine Shows the love that dares to care Hearing golden bells above chime For the happiness you share. Oh sister I remember well All of the times you helped me when I dwelled on things That felt as if though I was pushed in the dirt. Well you always picked me back up.

Run On 03:55
Cold morning air These walks we share Together we are two of a pair I watched you grow Through summer and snow From one day old, so long ago Run on my love across the fields You gave us a joy that lasted years Walks down the lane Never feel the same As though the sky, it starts to rain As I come home Just to be alone A friend in need has already flown

about

Chinatown' was recorded live to tape at Echo Zoo Studios and features not only George’s effortless vocals and masterful acoustic guitar, but also the addition of a string quartet, adding an extra warmth and movement to his transporting songs.

The production process has carefully maintained the characteristic saturation and crunch of tape recording, giving the tracks an exquisitely vintage sound not often heard in modern releases.

“To hear the sound of rain that falls as morning calls…”
